group of residents in Burnham-On-Sea who decorate their
street with thousands of Christmas lights to raise money
for local charities have this week handed out the cash to
three good causes. The residents of Burnham's Trinity Close
have presented the proceeds of their collection to hovercraft

Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust which helps local cancer

Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Somerset,

fundraising music and fun day was held in Burnham on Saturday
September 29th in memory of Dylan Cecil, the four year-old
boy who died in August after falling from the town's jetty.
The 11-hour fundraiser was held outside The Dunstan House

volunteer crewmembers at Burnham-On-Sea's rescue hovercraft
charity BARB have been presented with Jubilee medals in
recognition of their work. Burnham and Highbridge Deputy
Mayor Cllr Martin Cox handed over the medals to Roger Flower,
Dave Bailey, Clive Weal and Andy Croker outside the hovercraft
station to mark the 60th anniversary of the monarch's reign.

on mudflats at Berrow scattered flower petals at the scene

hovercraft charity BARB has this week warned that vital
minutes could be wasted in reaching beach rescues because
of council delays in repainting double yellow lines outside
its seafront station. Parts of Burnham's South Esplanade
were resurfaced in late September, but the council has still
not repainted double yellow lines across the front of the

of pounds for the charity that runs the town's two life-saving
rescue hovercrafts by holding a fundraising fair. The Towans

BARB,
the group that runs the hovercraft, was formed in 1992 when
it began fundraising for its first rescue craft and own
boathouse. In June 1994 Anneka Rice and the BBC TV show
Challenge Anneka came to the rescue, building us
a boat house on Burnham seafront in just 72 hours!
