Celebrating
couple make generous donation to Burnham hovercraft
A
Burnham-On-Sea couple celebrating their silver wedding anniversary
have turned down gifts from friends and instead made a donation
of hundreds of pounds to the charity that runs the town's rescue
hovercrafts.
Valerie and Trevor Hills, from Southern Lea Road, celebrated
their milestone with a party for 40 friends and invited donations
for BARB in lieu of presents.
The generous couple have handed over a cheque for £225 to
the charity that runs Burnham's life-saving Spirit Of Lelaina
and Light Of Elizabeth hovercrafts.
Valerie said: "Living in Burnham, we know how important it
is to have these hovercrafts here. We fully support the wonderful
work that BARB does."
BARB Chairman Mark Newman thanked the couple, adding: "We're
very grateful to Valerie and Trevor for this generous donation,
which will go towards the training of our volunteer crew and maintaining
our hovercrafts."
BARB, the Burnham Area Rescue Boat, is a 16-year-old charity funded
entirely by donations.
