BARB hovercraft receives donation from couple

Burnham-On-Sea's hovercraft crew have given a substantial cash donation towards the upkeep of the service.

Malcolm and Audrey Symes of Shepton Mallett (pictured right) gave the donation after dropping in at Burnham's hovercraft station on Sunday August 22.

Malcolm said: "We have been involved with lifeboats and lifesaving for many years now and believe they all do such a superb job. We're glad to help in any way we can."

They were given a tour of the hovercraft station on the seafront and crew members gave them a look around the craft itself.

Meanwhile, a bric-a-brac sale held on Burnham-On-Sea's esplanade on both Saturday and Sunday also helped to boost funds for the hovercraft. Almost £300 was raised from the two-day sale.
