Former
BBC Blue Peter presenter visits Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft

Former
BBC Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker visited Burnham-On-Sea
on Thursday (July 17th) when he recorded a radio interview with
the town's rescue hovercraft crew.
Matt,
who presented Blue Peter for seven years spanning over
700 editions, now works as a radio presenter on the BBC Radio
Four series Open Country.
He
visited BARB, the charity that operates Burnham's two rescue hovercrafts
and an inshore rescue boat, on Thursday to record a programme
focusing on Bridgwater Bay.
Matt
was given a tour of the seafront station and interviewed hovercraft
pilot Dave Bailey, as pictured above. He told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"It was great to meet the Burnham hovercraft crew and hear
about the important work they do."
"The
interview will be featured in an Open Country programme
featuring Bridgwater Bay's unique character in terms of landscape
and the people that shape it."
The
episode of Open Country will be aired on BBC Radio Four
on Saturday August 9th at 6.10am and again on Thursday August
14th at 1.30pm.
Matt,
who left Blue Peter in
2006, was named the UK's best children's presenter at the
BAFTA TV awards in 2003 and 2004.
