Burnham-On-Sea
hovercraft charity 'bowled over' by team's donation
Generous
members of a Burnham-On-Sea bowling club have donated their winnings
from last season to the life-saving charity that runs the town's
rescue hovercrafts.
June
Bridges, ladies captain at Burnham Bowling Club, handed over a
cheque for £90 to BARB in a presentation at the club on
Saturday afternoon (February 2nd).
The
club recently won the Weston and District Ladies League, and wanted
to donate its winnings to a local charity that would benefit from
the money.
"It
gives me great pleasure on behalf of the winning Burnham Ladies
Bowling Club league team to present this cheque to BARB to help
with their life-saving work," said June at Saturday's presentation.
BARB
Chairman Mark Newman, who is pictured accepting the cheque from
Mrs Bridges alongside the winning team, said: "We are very
grateful to the team for this kind donation, which will help with
the high costs of maintaining The Spirit Of Lelaina and Light
Of Elizabeth hovercrafts."
