Highbridge Brownies presented with water safety badges
Alan
Miller, chairman of BARB, attended a meeting of Highbridge brownies
to hand out their new water safety badges.
They received the badges after BARB organised a visit to the hovercraft
station, where they were given instruction by members of HM Coastguard,
local beach lifeguards and members of the BARB crew.
The youngsters were tested on what they had learnt during their visit
and all passed with flying colours.
Alan Miller said: "I was extremely pleased that they all enjoyed
their visit. We have forged a strong link with Highbridge Brownies.
They have fundraised for us this year and visited BARB in previous years."
He added: "I am very proud of them all. They took the advice they
were given and retained the knowledge necessary to pass their badges.
At the presentation I was made to feel really welcome and got to join
in brownie bells at the end of the evening."
Promoting water safety to young people in the area is important to BARB.
Other local groups are welcome to get in contact with BARB to arrange
visits.
