Burnham
hovercraft group to hold fundraising charity
evening
Burnham-On-Sea's
hovercraft group is to mark the end of another successful summer
season with a special charity evening during November.
The
BARB Charity Evening will include a look back at the Spirit Of
Lelaina's second summer on service, when its crew dealt with many
incidents along the Somerset coastline.
The
overall tally of people rescued and helped by the service now
stands at 80, and some of those who have been rescued are hoping
to come along on the night.
Organised
by Dee Emery - wife of hovercraft pilot Pete Emery - the event
will include live music, a finger buffet, raffle and charity auction.
The event is open to all and will be held at 7.30pm on Saturday
November 19 in Burnham-On-Sea Holiday Village.
Live
music will be provided by popular Portsmouth group The Crooners
and there will also be an auction of a Retro Classic scooter,
worth £699, which has been kindly donated by local company
Motocoemi.
Tickets
for the event cost £10 and can be purchased by calling 01278
788816. They can also be collected from the hovercraft station
on Burnham seafront on Wednesday evenings between 7-9pm.
All
profits from the evening will go directly towards meeting the
£20,000 annual cost of maintaining the craft and training
its volunteer crew.
