Retiring
BARB committee members presented with life memberships

Two
retiring committee members from BARB, the charity that runs Burnham's
rescue hovercrafts, have this week been presented with honorary
life memberships by the organisation following 14 years of life-saving
service.
Glenn
Cutter and Scott Rundle joined BARB in 1993 and 1994 and were
key members of the group when it was Burnham's only life-saving
organisation before the RNLI returned to the town in 2003 after
an absence of 70 years.
Both
men are now senior RNLI crew members who stayed on BARB's committee
to ensure there was a smooth transition of the lifeboat service
and to help with the introduction of the successful hovercraft
and rescue boat operation that is in place today.
"Both
have been stalwarts for BARB for many years," said BARB President
Neville Jones. "Their services were complementary to the
RNLI and BARB and benefit the public so it is only right that
they should move on now that the transition is complete."
While
BARB and the RNLI are separate charities, they both work closely
together during incidents and also hold joint training sessions.
Matt
Davies also received an honorary certificate but was unable to
attend this week's presentation.
