Brean
fundraisers raise over £4,500 for Burnham hovercraft charity
A
busy summer of fundraising activities at a Brean caravan park
has raised more than £4,500 for Burnham-On-Sea's rescue
hovercraft charity.
Dozens
of holidaymakers at Diamond Farm took part in a series of events,
ranging from fancy dress competitions and auctions to raffles
and car boot sales, to raise a total of £4,640.20 for BARB,
the group behind Burnham's life-saving rescue hovercrafts.
Diamond
Farm's Fundraising Committee handed over the bumper-sized cheque
to grateful crew members this week.
Diamond
Farm's Pam Clark said: "The hovercraft is such an essential
service in this area that we wanted to help."
"We've
had great support for all our events throughout the six-month
summer season, and thank everyone who helped."
BARB
Chairman Mark Newman thanked the group for their generosity, adding:
"This is a huge boost to BARB's fundraising."
"We're
very grateful to Pam, her committee, and all those holidymakers
who supported their fundraising activities during the summer.
We thank Diamond Farm for their continuing support of BARB."
"All
money raised will go directly into training our crew, maintaining
our equipment and, ultimately, saving lives along Somerset's coastline."
Diamond
Farm's fundraisers raised £3,000 last in 2006 towards BARB's
annual £30,000 cost of keeping its two rescue hovercrafts
in operation.
