Brean's
Diamond Farm hands £3,225 to Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft charity

A
bumper cheque worth £3,225 has been handed over to the charity
that runs Burnham-On-Sea's rescue hovercrafts.
The
Diamond Farm Pubraisers have collected the funds for BARB, the
charity that runs the life-saving Spirit Of Lelaina and Light
Of Elizabeth hovercrafts, during collections in Brean over the
summer months.
The
money was raised at the Beachcomber Inn, Sandyglade, Seagull,
Crackers, Ocean Bar, Burnham Holiday Village and the Tavern.
It
brings the total raised for BARB by Brean's Diamond Farm this
year to a huge £6,135 after an earlier cheque for £2,700
was given by the Diamond Farm Fundraising Committee.
"We
are delighted to have raised such a wonderful amount given the
poor summer of weather and the depressed financial climate,"
said organiser Roy Newell. "BARB is such a good cause and
we are very happy to help."
BARB
Chairman Mark Newman said: "We are hugely grateful for the
continuing support of Roy and everyone at Diamond Farm, who have
very generous backers of BARB over the years."
BARB
- the Burnham Area Rescue Boat - is a 16-year-old charity run
entirely by volunteers that is funded by donations from the public.
