A Glastonbury-based drama group called 'Miracles At Glastonbury' performed a series of sea-themed plays to raise much-needed funds for the BARB Rescue Hovercraft. Playing in front of capacity audiences at the Abbot's Kitchen in Glastonbury Abbey, the group's performances of 'The Deluge' and 'Floodtide' attracted 280 people over four nights and raised £200 for the Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft. Bill Wych, the writer and director of the two productions, said: "We put on a show each year and when it was decided that our theme would be the sea this time, we thought it would also be good to make a local coastal-themed organisation the main beneficiary of the funds we raise." "Given the vital work that the hovercraft team does - and the fact that Burnham is the nearest coastal town to Glastonbury - we thought the Spirit Of Lelaina would therefore be an ideal cause." During
a special visit to the hovercraft station this week, the Glastonbury
group handed over the funds to grateful BARB crew members and were also
given a tour of the station.
