Lost child is reunited with her family after going missing in Burnham

A search was launched for a five year-old girl after she went missing among crowds of holidaymakers on Burnham's seafront on Bank Holiday Monday.

The youngster became separated from her family and was missing for almost 15 minutes, prompting an urgent search by police and volunteers from BARB.

Grandmother Jill Coles told Burnham-On-sea.com: "At times like this, horrible thoughts go through your head about what could have happened."

"Everyone was so helpful and I'm very grateful and relieved it's all over."

Seafront walker Sheila Littlechild found young Shelby and asked the BARB crew at Burnham hovercraft station whether they could help by trying to find her family.

Sheila said: "Jill and Shelby were re-united after an emotional few minutes. Many thanks to all those who helped."
