Gala
screening of Hollywood hit will benefit Burnham hovercraft

Burnham-On-Sea's
Ritz Cinema is to hold a special gala screening of a major new
Hollywood blockbuster called 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince
Caspian' in aid of BARB, the charity that runs the town's two
rescue hovercrafts.
The movie is due to be released across the UK on June 27th
by Walt Disney Pictures, but will be screened one week early at
Burnham's Ritz Cinema on Friday 20th June at 7pm.
The exciting adventure film from Walt Disney Pictures is based
on Prince Caspian, the second novel in C.S. Lewis' children's
fantasy series 'The Chronicles of Narnia' and follows four children
returning to Narnia to aid Prince Caspian in his struggle for
the throne against his corrupt uncle, King Miraz.
Ritz Cinema owner Patt Scott, pictured above, said: "We are
delighted to be screening this major film just one night after
its London premiere and a full week ahead of its nationwide release."
"We are also very pleased to be donating proceeds from the
screening to BARB, which provides an invaluable rescue service
along Somerset's coastline. Tickets are already selling quickly,
so we would urge people to book their seats quickly."
A total of 110 tickets are on sale - priced at £10 each
- from the Ritz Cinema in Victoria Street, Burnham or by calling
the box office on 01278 794123. The price includes a buffet and
raffle.
BARB Chairman Mark Newman said: "We are very grateful to
the team at the Ritz Cinema for arranging this exciting gala screening.
It should be a great evening and all the funds raised for us will
go directly towards meeting BARB's annual running costs of £30,000."
BARB is a 15-year-old Burnham-based charity that operates an inshore
rescue boat and two hovercrafts on a 24-hour basis. It is run
by volunteers and funded entirely by donations from the public.
Proceeds from the movie screening will go to both BARB and Walt
Disney Picture's UK charity, the Great Ormond Street Children's
Hospital.
