Burnham-On-Sea
rescuers pull stranded surveying vehicle to safety

Hovercraft
rescuers in Burnham-On-Sea were scrambled on Friday afternoon
(March 28th) after a beach surveying company's vehicle became
trapped in thick mud.
The
high-tech quad bike was being used by Titan Environmental Surveys
to carry out a number of measurements along the beach when it
sank into the mud near Burnham pier.
BARB,
the Burnham rescue charity that operates two hovercrafts and an
inshore rescue boat, was alerted and its crew towed the vehicle
free in a matter of minutes.
Mark
Newman, Chairman of BARB, said the organisation was happy to help:
"BARB has over fifteen years of experience in dealing with
mud rescues along the Somerset coastline and our crews are well
used to dealing with incidents like this 24 hours a day. Here,
the quad bike was quickly extracted from the mud in a matter of
minutes."
David
Stark of Titan Environmental Surveys said: "We are very grateful
for the quick response of BARB. Given the incoming tide, it could
have turned out to be a very expensive afternoon."
