Burnham
hovercraft flies to the aid of injured dog walker

Burnham-On-Sea's
rescue hovercraft flew to the aid of an injured beach walker involved
in a freak accident on Berrow Beach this week.
Christine
Coombes of Barton Road, Berrow, was walking her dogs along the
sands when one of the animals ran into her, pushing her over and
badly injuring her knee.
Husband
Mike said on Wednesday (May 10th): "The boxer ran into her
at speed, causing her to fall and badly twist her knee. She was
in a lot of pain, real agony, and couldn't get up."
"Fortunately,
the hovercraft crew were in the area on training and quickly flew
across to us, then managed to take Christine onboard and fly her
back to the safety of the car park."
Paramedics
have since checked her over and confirmed the knee is not broken,
but Christine will take several days to recover.
"Her
knee is still giving her a lot of pain and she's been told to
rest in bed for several days," said Mike.
"We're
very grateful to the Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft team for their
help. They were just marvellous, and couldn't do enough to help."
