Burnham-On-Sea
rescue hovercraft called to Brean in mud rescue alert

Coastguards
called Burnham-On-Sea's rescue hovercraft to Brean beach on Saturday
afternoon (June 2nd) after a 20-year-old man was reported to be
in difficulty in the mud.
The
Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft was taken to Brean Cove by road with
a crew of five volunteers onboard.
The crews were also accompanied by members of the Coastguard's
Mud Rescue Team.
Soon
after arriving, the emergency crews found the 20-year-old man,
from Bedminster, had managed to scramble across the mud to the
safety of the sand unaided.
Steve
Bird, Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard Station Officer, said: "The
man had been spotted a long distance out into the mud and with
the tide starting to come in, a holidaymaker on the beach did
the right thing in dialling 999 and calling on the Coastguard."
