Skittles
weekend will raise fun and funds for Burnham hovercraft

Skittles
players are being invited to support Burnham-On-Seas rescue
hovercraft at a special two-day fundraising event in Highbridge
this week.
Highbridge
charity fundraiser Miki Tilley is organising a two-day skittles
event on Saturday March 4th and Sunday March 5th at The George
Inn, Highbridge in aid of BARB, the group that runs the hovercraft.
The
event will start at 11.30am on Saturday and run through until
9pm. It will be followed with a second day of action on Sunday
from 11.30am until 4pm. A range of prizes will be up for grabs
during the two days.
BARB
has annual running costs of £20,000 and is in the process
of buying a second £11,000 hovercraft to further expand
its life-saving operation along the Somerset coast.
During
its first 18 months of operation, the group has helped and rescued
more than 85 people.
The
hovercraft was launched in 2004 after a successful fundraising
appeal by the Western Daily Press following the tragic
death of five-year-old Lelaina Hall who became trapped in treacherous
mud at Berrow beach in 2002.
