National
publicity for Burnham hovercraft as Sky News comes to town

Burnham's
hovercraft received national TV publicity on Monday August 22nd
when Sky News broadcast a report about the work of the life-saving
service.
The
three-minute feature about The Spirit of Lelaina and its
crew of volunteers was broadcast every hour between 6am and 10am
and came a day after Sky News reporter Andrew Moore visited the
group.
The
Sky News camera crew took footage of the craft skimming across
the mud at Burnham and Berrow and also clambered aboard to get
shots from inside the craft.
They
also filmed Burnham's Coastguard Mud Rescue Team who were taking
part in an exercise at Berrow.
Alan
Miller, Chairman of BARB, the group that runs the hovercraft,
explained the reasons behind launching the service following the
tragic death of Lelaina Hall in 2002.
And
pilot Pete Emery was interviewed about the difficulty of steering
and 'driving' the craft.
Sky News is seen in seven million homes
across the UK and is also broadcast around the world via satellite
TV.
