Heave!
Pull! Hovercraft crew wins tug-of-war at town regatta

Shouts
of 'heave' and 'pull' filled the air when crew members from Burnham-On-Sea's
hovercraft and lifeboat groups competed in a tug-of-war at the
town's regatta over the weekend.
Delighted
BARB crew members won the hard-fought battle after several minutes
of pulling and were presented with the Emma
Humbug trophy, a glass rose bowl filled with humbugs.
The
bowl had been donated by Gloria Robertson, whose yacht 'Emma'
lost a bilge keel last year and was shepherded
in by Burnham's lifeboat.
The
tug-of-war was one of several events that occurred during Burnham's
successful regatta weekend.
Sailing
Club Commodore Terry Moule is pictured right handing over the
trophy.
A
wide range of entertainment was laid on including skittles, boules,
music, a raffle, a book sale and a bric-a-brac stall - and an
illuminated display of boats was held on Friday night.
