Western
Daily Press hands cash gift to Burnham hovercraft group

Life-saving
hovercraft volunteers in Burnham-On-Sea have been given some Christmas
cheer, courtesy of the Western Daily Press.
Instead
of sending out costly greetings cards this season, the paper's
management team decided to save the money and give it to a worthy
cause.
It
meant that £1,500 could go to the selfless team who run
the Spirit of Lelaina hovercraft in Burnham.
The
craft was bought with donations from Press readers after the death
of little Lelaina Hall, who drowned at Berrow in 2002.
Launched
last year, the Spirit of Lelaina has helped or rescued some 80
people.
It
costs around £20,000 to run the hovercraft. Including the
Christmas cheque, the Press has raised £9,380 towards that
this year.
To
help the Spirit of Lelaina, send a cheque to Wendy Best, Special
Projects Editor, Western Daily Press, Bristol, Temple Way, Bristol
BS99 7HD.
