Berrow Football Club publishes fundraising
calendar after fire disaster
Berrow
Football Club has published a 2006 calendar featuring photos of
its players to raise much-needed cash following the devastating
fire which destroyed its changing rooms in November.
The
club hopes to raise thousands of pounds by selling the small desk
calendars, at £3.50 each, from Berrow News and other local
newsagents.
A
concert is also being planned for January 21st when local group
Riverbrew wil play at the Farmer's Tavern. Tickets, costing £10
each, go on sale in the New Year.
The
club's changing rooms in Parsonage Road, Berrow, were badly damaged
on November 22nd when arsonists are believed to have set light
to the building.
Club
secretary Rachel Dyer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The building
itself was covered by insurance and will be replaced."
"But
our equipment such as the white lining machine, corner flags,
training balls, goal nets and bibs were not. We
therefore need to raise all the money we can."
A
fundraising football match will also be held against Yeovil Town
Over 40s during 2006 to pull in more vital cash for the club.
