Cash
boost for fire-hit Berrow football club from concert and local
brewery

Fire-hit Berrow Football Club received a much-needed financial
boost this week when more than £2,000 was raised at a big
fundraising concert and a local brewery started selling a new
beer to raise further cash.
Berrow
Brewery has created a special beer called Winter S'port to help
raise money for the parish council, which lost equipment and stock
in the club's devastating changing rooms fire last November.
Parish
councillor Andrea Johnstone, whose husband James (pictured) runs
the brewery, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that £5 from every
firkin and 30p from every pint sold in the brewery's off-licence
would go towards the fund.
Meanwhile,
over 200 people packed into the
Farmer's Tavern in Brean on Saturday night (January 21st) for
a successful fundraising concert.
Local
band Riverbrew (pictured) headlined the event alongside comedian
Buster.
Club
secretary Rachel Dyer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Saturday's
concert went very well. 200 tickets were sold at £10 each
and the auction raised another £500, with a pair of cricketer
Marcus Trescothick's gloves raising £150 alone. It was great
to receive such strong support."
The
club's next fundraising event will be a football match against
Yeovil Town Over 40s, which is scheduled for February 12th.
