Award
for organiser of Burnham and Highbridge's Britain In Bloom bid
Dave
Perrett, the organiser of Burnham and Highbridge's entry into
the annual Britain In Bloom competition, was celebrating this
week after receiving a prestigious award.
The
green-fingered organiser, pictured right, was presented with the
Alf Crouch Memorial Trophy for outstanding effort at the 2005
Britain In Bloom awards ceremony at Hestercombe House Gardens,
near Taunton.
He
told the Weekly News, which has been running a campaign
to promote Burnham's entry in the competition that it was a proud
moment, adding: "I don't know how I feel - I've gone all
pimply. We only usually get a bronze certificate. We have never
won a bit of silverware before."
The
celebrations continued as Highbridge received a South West In
Bloom Certificate for the SWTA Cup and Burnham picked up a bronze
in The Sargent Cup. Other local winners are shown below.
