Award for organiser of Burnham and Highbridge's Britain In Bloom bid

Dave Perrett, the co-ordinator of the Burnham and Highbridge In Bloom groupDave Perrett, the organiser of Burnham and Highbridge's entry into the annual Britain In Bloom competition, was celebrating this week after receiving a prestigious award.

The green-fingered organiser, pictured right, was presented with the Alf Crouch Memorial Trophy for outstanding effort at the 2005 Britain In Bloom awards ceremony at Hestercombe House Gardens, near Taunton.

He told the Weekly News, which has been running a campaign to promote Burnham's entry in the competition that it was a proud moment, adding: "I don't know how I feel - I've gone all pimply. We only usually get a bronze certificate. We have never won a bit of silverware before."
