Mini 'tornado' blows over caravans at Brean
and leaves one person injured
Fire
crews from across Somerset were called to Brean on Saturday night
after a mini 'tornado' blew over several caravans and left one
person injured.
Engines
from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston-super-Mare were called to Warren
Farm Holiday Centre at 9:40pm after three caravans were blown
over during what the Somerset Fire Service called "strong
localised winds."
One
appliance from Burnham attended the scene, along with two vehicles
from Weston-super-Mare.
One
holidaymaker, who was in one of the caravans at the time, was
treated for minor injuries. The other two vans were apparently
unoccupied.
Jim
Barrow, who is staying on the park, told Burnham-On-Sea.com there
had been a "strong whirlwind in one corner of the park that
seemed to come from nowhere. It blew three caravans over in just
a couple of minutes."
A
spokesperson at Warren Farm added: "Several people have said
they think this was the result of a mini tornado. We did have
a day of extreme weather with heavy thunder storms and strong
winds one moment followed by bright sunshine the next."
He
added that the three damaged caravans were cleared away on Sunday.
