Burnham-On-Sea
garden centre offers Christmas tree recycling service
Go
green and recycle your Christmas tree and cards when you've finished
with them - that's the plea from a Burnham-On-Sea garden centre,
which is launching its own festive recycling service.
Sanders
Garden World
is offering a free shredding and
mulching service for its customers from January 3rd until January
15th.
Trees
can be delivered to the garden centre during these dates and the
mulch can be collected between January 16th and 23rd.
In
an attempt to lessen the impact on the environment, the Royal
Horticultural Society says
that traditional Christmas trees which have been cut and are not
potted up should be shredded after they are no longer required
in the home.
Garden
centre Managing Director Peter Burks added: "The RHS says
six million cut Christmas trees are bought each year in the UK.
Last year, around three-quarters of a million of those were recycled.
This means that there is definitely room for improvement."
Garden
World is also backing conservation charity The Woodland Trust
in its campaign to collect and recycle 60 million Christmas cards
this New Year. To recycle your cards, take them to Garden World
between January 3rd and 30th.
