Land
Rover lost to the mud as tide submerges it at Berrow

A
brand new £20,000 Land Rover Freelander has become the latest
vehicle to be completely lost in treacherous local mud - after
a battle to save it failed on Tuesday evening (July 11th).
A
team of trucks from Weston Recovery was called to Berrow Beach
at around 5pm after the Land Rover became stuck when its owner
drove out into the mudflats - but the rescuers were unable to
pull it free and briefly became stuck themselves.
One
eyewitness told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was an incredible
scene. First, the Land Rover got stuck and then the rescue truck
which had been called also got into difficulty, therefore requiring
a third vehicle to pull it free from the water."
"It
was quite a struggle but sadly for the Land Rover owner, his vehicle
has been completely lost to the incoming tide."
The
Land Rover was finally recovered from the mud on Wednesday afternoon
(July 12th) after a night underneath the water.
Coastguards
from Burnham-On-Sea were called to check that there were no occupants
inside.
This
latest incident comes
just months after a Range
Rover was lost in the mud at nearby Brean during April. Again,
no-one was injured but the vehicle was lost.
