Coastguards
join paramedics in helping horse rider after accident

Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguards rushed to help an injured horse rider at Berrow Beach
on Sunday afternoon, February 19th, after the woman was thrown
from the animal.
Lisa
Clements, 29, from Westonzoyland, was riding the young animal
when it reared up and threw her onto the hard, wet sand.
Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguard, police and paramedics rushed to the scene at 12.30pm
and the woman was taken to Weston General shortly afterwards.
There
were fears that she had been seriously injured, but she was released
from hospital later on Sunday with heavy bruising.
The
horse - from Seymour Farm Riding Stables at Stretcholt, near Bridgwater
- was one of several animals being walked along the beach at the
time.
Eyewitness
Claire Reason said: "She was riding along the beach when
suddenly the horse put its head down between its legs and threw
Lisa off. It was a horrible moment."
It
was a busy day for the Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard crew. They were
also called out earlier on Sunday to co-ordinate the rescue of
a capsized
dinghy at nearby Brean Down.
