Three new recruits are needed by the team to work alongside the police, hovercraft and RNLI in dealing with searches, cliff and mud rescues, and other call-outs in the area. Volunteers will receive a wide range of assessment-based training over several months to ensure they are fully skilled and able to undertake rescues before being deployed. Steve Bird, Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard Officer, said: Were looking for people aged between 18 and 60 who live locally and who are able to quickly respond to call-outs. We are particularly keen to bolster our cover during daytime hours, so local people who work close-by are ideal. Those interested in finding out more should attend an Open Day being held at the Coastguard Station, on the seafront next to Burnhams tourist information centre, on Sunday May 1st between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Alternatively,
volunteers can telephone Steve Bird on 07967 292614. RELATED STORIES:
