Coastguards
called to Brean amid concern for fishermen on mudflats

Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguards rushed
to Brean beach on Sunday lunchtime (February 4th) amid concern
for a group of fishermen on the mud flats.
Coastguards
conducted a search of the shoreline, pictured, after the owner
of a local caravan site dialled 999 to report four anglers in
difficulties out in the mud at 12.50pm.
Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguard Station Officer Steve Bird said: "We made various
inquiries and quickly found the four anglers had fortunately managed
to get back to the safety of the beach on their own."
"This was a false alarm with good intent. It does serve,
though, as another reminder of the dangers of walking across the
mud at low tide."
