Air ambulance and Coastguards called to help injured woman at Brean

An air ambulance and Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called to Brean Down on Tuesday afternoon (June 19th) after a woman fell and suffered a suspected broken leg.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene near to Brean Down Fort, after a 48-year-old holidaymaker from Kingsley in Cheshire was reported to have injured herself in a fall.

A Burnham Coastguard spokesman said: "A Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was called to airlift the woman to hospital, but the nature of her injuries meant it was easier to take her to hospital by land in an ambulance."

The incident comes just six weeks after a similar incident at the same spot, where a walker was air-lifted from the Down after breaking an ankle.
