Coastguards lead two men to safety from stranded vehicle

Two
men were led to safety by Coastguards on Thursday afternoon (April
24th) after their vehicle became the latest to become trapped
on Brean's treacherous mudflats.
Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguards were called to Brean at 3.45pm after a Range Rover
sank into the mud approximately 150 metres from the beach, close
to where another vehicle
got stranded earlier this month.
The
car and the two men inside - aged 43 and 32 - were spotted by
the resort's beach warden, who dialled 999 to alert Coastguards.
Dave
Welland, Burnham Coastguard Officer, said: "We managed to
get out to the two men via the rocky shoreline along Brean Down
and took the two men back to the safety of the beach. They were
both more embarrassed than worried."
Burnham-On-Sea's
Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft, operated by rescue charity BARB,
was put on standby by Coastguards to help, was not needed on this
occasion.
It
was the sixth incident in a month involving vehicles getting trapped
in mud along Somerset's coastline.
"This
incident again serves as a reminder of the dangers of ignoring
warning signs along our coastline," added Mr Welland.
Local
vehicle recovery service Weston Recovery later pulled the Range
Rover out of the mud.
