Coastguards
called out to dog walker on mudflats

A
57-year-old dog walker sparked a mud rescue scare near Burnham-On-Sea's
lighthouse on Wednesday afternoon (January 3rd) when he wandered
out across the mudflats.
Coastguards
were called out at 12.45pm after four separate 999 emergency phone
calls were made by anxious onlookers walking along the beach.
Burnham
Coastguard Dave Welland said: "The
man walked across the mudflats with his dog and was then lost
from sight because he was so far down in the river estuary."
"Several
concerned walkers on the beach reported hearing the man's dog
barking loudly but they could see no sign of him, so they did
the right thing in alerting us."
Coastguards
rushed to the low lighthouse and the man was found safe several
minutes later. He had not been in any difficulty.
