Disorientated cyclist rescued
by Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards
A
disorientated cyclist who became lost in poor weather at Brean
Down was taken to hospital after being found by Coastguards on
Saturday afternoon (December 29th).
The
23-year-old had lost her way in "atrocious" weather
at the eastern end of the Down, besides the River Axe, and dialled
999 on her mobile phone to call for help.
Coastguards
from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston were quickly on the scene and managed
to locate the lady after a search of the river banks.
Burnham
Coastguard Stuart Browning said: "The lady had been cycling
along a path by the river when she had become disorientated in
the atrocious weather. She was wet, cold and shivering when we
found her."
The
casualty was taken to Weston General Hospital for a checkover
by paramedics.
