Lifeguards
help injured
zapcat
pilot after Burnham-On-Sea accident

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeguards came to the aid of a zapcat
pilot who suffered a suspected broken ankle during an accident
near the town's jetty on
Monday evening (August 27th).
The
man, in his late 30s and from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, was
taken to Weston General Hospital by ambulance after being thrown
from his boat during an accident at 5.45pm.
Fellow
co-pilot Justin Whithorn explained: "We went sharply into
a corner, lost control and both ended up in the water."
Lifeguards
and friends of the man waded out to the boat in Bridgwater Bay
and pulled it back to the shore, where paramedics and Coastguards
officers were on scene minutes later.
In
a similar accident
on Saturday, a jet skier was injured just yards away when he lost
control of his craft.
Monday's
accident came at the end of a busy Bank Holiday weekend for Burnham's
marine rescue services. The
town's Coastguard, hovercraft and lifeboat crews were called to
several incidents.
The
zapcat team is not the local duo who were featured
on Burnham-On-Sea.com earlier this year.
