Dog micro chipping sessions come to Burnham-On-Sea
and Highbridge
Sedgemoor's
Dog Wardens are offering a cut-price micro chipping service to
help protect dogs in Burnham and Highbridge.
Usual
fees are between £20 and £30, but Sedgemoor District
Council is offering the service at a cost of £12 per dog
at two special sessions in June.
Micro
chipping is now recognised as the most effective and secure way
of permanently identifying a pet.
Many dogs and cats are lost or stolen and this can be very distressing
for pet owners. Of the many thousand of dogs that go missing each
year, it is estimated that less than half are reunited with their
owners.
If Sedgemoor's Dog Wardens find a lost dog and it is found with
a micro chip, they can contact the national database to find the
owner's details. The owner is then contacted and reunited with
their dog.
