Burnham
beach anglers bemoan 'worst-ever competition' as fish stay away
More
than 60 anglers
lined the water's edge at Burnham-On-Sea on
Sunday to
compete in a beach competition - but the fish stayed away and
made it one of the worst afternoons on record.
Just
six flounders were caught by
the 66 anglers during the five hour event,
which organiser
Dave Stephens said was "very poor."
"It
was the worst we've seen and was probably caused by a number of
factors, including the weather," he added.
The
event, organised by Weston
Outcasts, was held in bright, but cold conditions.
The group's next Burnham beach fishing event will be held on January
8th. Further
information is available from Weston Outcasts on 07977 228133.
