Two-day FolkFest music festival to be held
in Burnham-On-Sea

Plans
for a big two-day folk music festival to be held in Burnham-On-Sea
this autumn have been unveiled this week.
Scores
of musicians from across the country will gather in the town for
FolkFest 2006 on September 2nd and 3rd to play a foot-tapping
mixture of blues, jazz and acoustic music in front of audiences
in pubs and other venues throughout Burnham.
Graham
Cook, one of the event's organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"On the Saturday, we'll have live music in five or six pubs
running throughout the day and evening."
"There'll
also be a big ceilidh in the Princess Hall, and we plan to have
street entertainers such as jugglers and fire-eaters to create
a festival atmosphere."
"We
expect that many of the best folk and acoustic groups from across
the south of England will be playing - so there should be great
music to listen to."
On
the Sunday, an expanded version of the annual Folk In The Park
will be held in a marquee in the Manor Gardens with a big line-up
of music and entertainment.
"We're
working like mad to get it all set up, but it should be well worth
it," added Graham.
"We
hope that FolkFest will become an annual event in Burnham and
that next year's will be even bigger."
As
a result of the expansion, Burnham's Jazz In The Park will move
forward this year to June 18th, while Picnic In The Park will
be held as normal in July.
