 Burnham-On-Sea
Chamber of Trade and Commerce aims to promote, develop and encourage
business in the town, as well as to attract locals and visitors
alike.
The current organisation was established earlier this decade
firstly to upgrade Christmas lights. However, the Chamber now
has a much wider role.
Current
work and benefits of membership include:
Promotion of the shopping offer to visitors and locals through
production of the Burnham-on-Sea Shoppers’
Guide. If you wish to distribute copies through your business,
please email shoppersguides@burnhamonseachamber.org. This guide
will be republished in Spring 2008. Your 2007/8 subscription includes
a complimentary listing in the A to Z listing of businesses in
the town. In 2006 this cost £24 alone.
Co-ordinating
marketing and promotional initiatives amongst members, including
running events and competitions to bring shoppers into the town,
e.g. Christmas Light switch on event, Spot the Odd Item competition
and Regatta Treasure Hunt;
Relentlessly
lobbying the Councils and Regeneration Company for improvements
to the town’s infrastructure and facilities, and responding
to consultations, e.g. on the Conservation Area, Unitary Authority
and Local Development Framework;
Regular
contact through quarterly newsletters and general meetings and
ensuring proper two-way communication between members and committee;
Upgrading
the Chamber web-page here at www.burnhamonseachamber.org;
Affiliation
to the Somerset Chamber of Commerce including a membership discount
& Sedgemoor Tourism Association (discount currently in negotiation);
And,
of course, maintaining and extending the Christmas Light display
and investigating other cosmetic improvements to improve the town
centre environment.
We need
your support – the bigger the membership, the bigger our
voice. We believe there is reason for every business in the town
to join.
