Hillview
Carnival Club celebrates after being crowned county champions

Members
of a Burnham-On-Sea Carnival club have been celebrating after
being crowned county champions, having won in their class at SEVEN
events on the carnival curcuit.
Hillview
Juvenile Carnival Club picked up the
sought-after county award on
Saturday night, November 12th, after
their float, called Celebratation, took first place in the juvenile
class at Glastonbury's Carnival.
The
win gave the group enough points to be sure of becoming county
champions.
They
have also won the juvenile class at this year's Burnham-On-Sea,
North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Bridgwater, Weston and Wells
carnivals.
"We're
absolutely delighted," the club's Stuart Carpenter told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"It's
gone incredibly well for us this year and becoming county champions
is a great reward for all the hard work that's been put in by
the team."
"It's
the first time we've had a clean sweep and won seven successive
events on the circuit, and we haven't won the County Cup since
1992."
The
group says its £12,000 monster float is the biggest to be
built in the Burnham area for more than 15 years.
It
is 100ft long, 17ft high, 11ft wide and has 9,000 light bulbs
which use enough power to light up a whole housing estate!
The
club's 18 members and 12 builders raised enough money to built
the vehicle by holding fundraising events throughout the year.
The
group is always on the look-out for new supporters, builders and
other volunteers. To get involved, contact the club on 07889 114872.
