Police
presence boosted as Brean officers get new permanent base
A
dedicated police team has been set up in Brean and Berrow to tackle
crime in the two villages.
Beat
Manager PC Dominic Bryant and Special Constable Chris Guest, pictured,
who were previously based in Burnham, now have a permanent base
in the centre of Brean.
"Reponse
times are being cut in the two villages and, by being based in
the centre of our beat area, we're also able to step up our presence,"
PC Bryant told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The
new base, just off Coast Road in the centre of Brean, will also
remain open during the winter months.
"This
is not just a temporary summer presence," said PC Bryant.
"We'll be keeping up the work during the winter too."
"We
already have good working relationships with caravan site owners
and pub licencees in the Brean area and will continue to strengthen
these in order to stamp down on disorder and crime."
"It's
worth noting that holidaymakers who commit offences in caravan
parks can be evicted and receive life-time bans."
The
two officers are also now covering Brean Down Fort. "Working
with Brean Parish Council and the National Trust, we'll soon begin
tackling grafitti problems and anti-social behaviour along the
Down," confirmed PC Bryant.
