Polish
town hopes to be twinned with Burnham-On-Sea
A
town in Poland could become twinned with Burnham-On-Sea if a team
of volunteers can be found to help set up the link.
Officials
from Miechow, a Polish farming town, have written to Burnham's
Mayor asking whether he would consider the association.
The
idea received positive feedback at the latest meeting of Burnham
and Highbridge town council, and a group of volunteers is now
being sought to help formalise the link.
Burnham-On-Sea
Town Clerk Eileen Shaw told
Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We're seeking a group of local people
who would like to take this on and oversee our association with
Miechow."
"We
already have two successful groups dealing with our existing twin
towns and would like to hear from anyone who would like to be
help in a similar way here."
Miechow
is a rural village located 40km north of Krakow which has a population
of 11,852.
Burnham-On-Sea
is already twinned with Fritzlar in Germany and Louvigne-Du-Desert
in France.
