SANDERS GardenWorld, near Burnham-On-Sea,
has been taken over by a national garden centre chain in a multi-million
pound deal. A spokeswoman for the
Brent Knoll garden centre exclusively broke the news to Burnham-On-Sea.com
on Friday afternoon (August 31st).

caused Highbridge fire
A
BURNHAM-On-Sea fire crew was called to Highbridge on Thursday
evening (August 30th) after an unattended ornamental candle caught
fire. The small blaze, at a property in Grange Avenue, burnt itself
out but caused 75% light smoke damage to a room.

roundabout open at last!
Eight
months of disruptive roadworks in Highbridge finally came to an
end on Friday morning (August 31st) when a new supermarket roundabout
was opened. Work to construct the new road layout outside the
soon-to-open Asda supermarket was finally completed and the road
was opened at 7am.

injured in road crash
A
CYCLIST was taken to hospital with suspected various injuries
after being knocked down in a road accident in the centre of Highbridge
on Thursday evening (August 30th). Police officers and ambulance
crews rushed to the scene, at the roundabout on the corner of

crew tackles kitchen blaze
THIS
was the scene in Highbridge on Thursday morning (August 30th)
when Burnham firefighters were called to tackle a small fire in
a flat. Smoke had been spotted coming out of a flat in General
Higgins House, Southwell Crescent when nearby residents raised

Shelters
attacked by vandals
BURNHAM-On-Sea's
Marine Cove gardens were partially closed on Thursday (August
30th) after vandals attacked shelters at the site. Sedgemoor District
Council played down reports that the site is 'completely closed',
saying that the damage is restricted to the shelters, which have
been cordoned off.

Tour
of Britain will miss town
THERE
was disappointment for Burnham-On-Sea cycling fans on Thursday
(August 30th) when it was confirmed that The Tour of Britain,
the country's leading cycle race, will not visit the town. The
race will come into Sedgemoor but it won't take in Burnham as

hold bike security event
BURNHAM-On-Sea
cyslists can get their bike security-marked at a series of special
events being held in the town next week. The Bike Security Marking
events will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday (4th and 5th September)
from 9am until 4pm and on Thursday 6th September from 2pm to 7pm.

2007 starts on Friday
OVER
100 hours of live music and dance will be
held in pubs and other venues across Burnham-On-Sea this weekend
when the town's annual folk festival gets underway. Folkfest 2007
runs from 31st August to 2nd September and features non-stop music

Highbridge
and Burnham railway station has been named and shamed in a new
nationwide survey published this week. The station, pictured here,
has been nominated in the annual 'Weakest Link' survey - organised
by campaign group Transport 2000 - which seeks to identify the
best and worst train stations.

Crowds
of holidaymakers rushed to help the anxious owner of this car
when he got that sinking feeling in mud at Brean, near Burnham-On-Sea.
The car had been driven along the shoreline when its wheels started
to sink into the soft sand and mud, leaving it stranded.

arrests by Burnham police
TWO
people
have been arrested in Burnham-On-Sea during a crackdown on anti-social
behaviour and underage drinking in the town. Police increased
their patrols in a pro-active operation as part of their ongoing
county-wide Operation Relentless campaign.
