£2m
overhaul for M5 at Burnham
A
MAJOR project to introduce a quieter, safer road surface on the
M5 at Burnham-On-Sea is scheduled to begin on January 8th. The
work, costing £2 million, will take place between Junctions
22 and 23 and will involve improving drainage as well as resurfacing
the carriageway, the Highways Agency said on Friday.

million watch Brean film
More than five million television viewers watched BBC1's film
'Dracula' on Thursday night (December 28th) in which Brean Down
was heavily featured. We exclusively reported in August how Brean
beach had been transformed into a film set to record scenes for
the film.

of 2007 when a wide range of events is held in the town on New

BOSSES
at a Brean caravan park are flushed with success after the quality
of their loos was recognised in a nationwide competition. Warren
Farm, near Burnham-On-Sea, has England's best caravan
park toilet
facilities, according to the 2006 Loo Of The Year Awards.

club's plan withdrawn
CONTROVERSIAL
plans
to extend the closing time at Burnham-On-Sea Bowling Club until
2am have been withdrawn. Sedgemoor District Council's Licensing
and Registration Committee had been due to decide last week whether
the club could open late on 24

crews tackle house blaze
BURNHAM-On-Sea firefighters equipped with breathing
apparatus tackled a serious house blaze in Berrow Road on Thursday
morning (December 28th). Two Burnham fire crews raced to the property
at 10.30am after the occupants dialled 999 to report a fire had
broken out in their kitchen.

appeal after OAP injured
POLICE
in Highbridge appealed for witnesses on Thursday (Dec 28th) as
they investigated a fail-to-stop accident in the town. At
around 10.30am on Christmas Eve, an elderly pedestrian was crossing
Bank Street when she was involved in a collision with a vehicle.

for a brand new 2007 gnome-themed one during an eco-friendly calendar
amnesty at Sanders Garden World. Staff at the garden centre will
