Baptisms
in the sea for six young Burnham-On-Sea churchgoers

Six
members of a Burnham-On-Sea church waded into the waters of Bridgwater
Bay on Sunday morning, September 10th, to be baptized in a ceremony
in the sea.
Many
Burnham Community Church members get baptized each year, but they
usually choose a local swimming pool for the traditional full-immersion
ceremony.
This
year, however, six decided the sea next to Burnham's jetty would
be a good venue where relatives, passers-by and visitors would
be able to watch. Click here
for video footage of the ceremony.
Pastor
Steve Mason told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The girls wanted it
to be as public a ceremony as possible so that as many people
could see it and join in."
"Baptisms
were carried out in lakes, rivers and the sea in the bible, so
we thought why not do this ourselves this year."
Among
the six being baptized on Sunday were Sian Marshall, Kerry Craig,
Elizabeth Clarke, Leanne Swift and Bianca Ackroyd.
