More than 80 anglers lined the water’s edge at Burnham on Sunday afternoon (September 17th) when scores of eels were caught during a beach fishing competition.

A total of 83 anglers took part in the four hour event, which organisers said had gone very well.

Rob Marshall won the event, while James Redman was second and Tony Gooch third. All three are shown on the right.

The heaviest fish of the day was a bumper 6.55 kilo Congor eel.

The competition, organised by Weston Outcasts, is held each year at this time and benefited from warm late summer conditions.
