Burnham-On-Sea firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus tackled a house blaze in Berrow Road on Thursday morning (December 28th).

Two Burnham-On-Sea fire crews raced to the property, near the town’s lighthouse, at 10.30am.

It came after the two anxious elderly occupants inside contacted emergency services to report they had found a fire alight in their kitchen.

Four firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered the house and two hose reel jets were used to bring it under control.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The property was occupied by two elderly ladies and has now been rendered uninhabitable.”

The spokesman added: “The cause of the fire is under investigation at this stage, as is the damage.”

Smoke was removed from the property with large ventilation fans.
