High-flying
BMX bikers in action in Burnham for national championships

Hundreds
of BMX bikers and enthusiasts flocked to Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday
for the opening round of the UK's national championships.
450
riders competed in the event at the town's BMX track in Apex Park.
Watched
by hundreds of spectators, the participants skidded, raced and
flew around the track during the several rounds.
BMX
Club chairman Mike Manaton told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had
been a big success.
"There's
been excellent support. We've had riders from across the UK taking
part and even some Dutch competitors," he said.
Top
Burnham rider Marcus Bloomfield, pictured, was clearly enjoying
being in the limelight in his home town.
An
Olympic hopeful, he was again on top form at Sunday's event.
The
organisers also thanked local residents for their co-operation
during a busy weekend at the track.
Mr
Manaton added: "An event like this brings such large numbers
of people into Burnham that it can only be good for the town as
a whole, not just our club."
Meanwhile,
on Saturday evening the British BMX talent team were also in action
in the town, performing a demonstration at King Alfred School
in front of crowds of enthusiasts.
