Carnival floats arrive in town ahead of Burnham-On-Sea Carnival

-

Dozens of huge carnival floats arrived in Burnham-On-Sea during the early hours of Sunday (November 5th) after travelling along the A38 to the town after Saturday’s North Petherton carnival.

A long snake of floats gathered along Queen’s Drive (pictured) and The Frank Foley Parkway as the crews behind each float prepare for Monday evening’s big parade in Burnham.

A total of 103 entries are ready to take part in the annual procession, which gets underway at 7.30pm from Love Lane before wending its way through Burnham’s streets to Marine Drive.

The weather is forecast to stay fine and dry for the parade, with clear skies although temperatures are expected to dip down to 5 degrees centigrade.

Each carnival club will be doing its best not only to entertain but also to impress the 60 judges and win one of the 40 prizes up for grabs. Highbridge Young Farmers, Hillview Carnival Club and a Highbridge dance club are among the local entries.

There will also be 80 charity collectors weaving beside the parade, urging the crowds to dig deep in order to try and beat the £6,400 raised last year.
