Incredible
Ghost Ship steals the show at 2006 Burnham-On-Sea Carnival

A
huge crowd of over 30,000 people lined Burnham-On-Sea's streets
on Monday night (November 6th) for one of the town's biggest-ever
winter carnivals.
The
incredible Ghost Ship from Gremlins Carnival Club, pictured here,
stole the show by winning many of the top prizes
- but organisers praised the overall standard of the 103 entrants,
saying it was once again of a very high quality.
Scores
of masqueraders also took part in the parade, performing in between
the huge colourful floats.
While
Highbridge's Hillview Carnival Club suffered a power failure that
knocked out many of its float's lights, the club still went on
to win the award for best local entry, while Highbridge
Young Farmers also picked up a second place.
The
event didn't go off without a couple of small hitches. The parade
was late starting after organisers had to tow away a vehicle that
had been parked along the route of the procession, near to the
Ritz Cinema. And two ten-minute gaps during the middle of the
parade were blamed on medical incidents where paramedics had to
stop the parade to reach casualties. Also, a crash
along Berrow Road just 90 minutes before the start held up some
Carnival traffic. But these did not mar what was once again a
superb event.
