Burnham-On-Sea shoppers invited to have their say!

-

Shoppers in Burnham-On-Sea are to be given their say about how to make shopping in the town even better.

A shoppers feedback scheme is to be launched over the next few weeks by Burnham’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

Scores of feedback forms will be available at nine shops across Burnham – ranging from food stores to accountants – to ensure as wide a range of people submit their ideas.

And from the start of November, an online suggestion system will launch on Burnham-On-Sea.com to give residents the opportunity to submit their ideas electronically.

Chamber of Trade Vice Chairman Alex Turco said: “We often discuss issues such as late night opening, Sunday opening and car parking but don’t actually know what shoppers want – so now we’re asking them.”

“Having facts and figures about what shoppers want will inform the Chamber’s work and ensure we’re headed in the right direction,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chamber members also gave their thumbs-up to a whole host of proposals aimed at encouraging trade in the town.

Plans for a Burnham-On-Sea shopping bag are also moving forward, with an over-sized mock-up of one on display for committee members to see this week – as pictured on the right.

The bag will feature eight adverts from local independent companies in the town.

“We plan to have a print run of 25,000 and have them ready to be distributed from shops across the town by next Easter,” added Rob Johnson of Magpie Gifts, who is overseeing the project.

And, as previously reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com, a shop window competition is set to go ahead to encourage more visitors to look at products on show in windows. The scheme looks set to go ahead between March 31st and April 15th with up to 30 firms taking part.
